Went down to southern Santa Fe County on Sunday and was surprised to see this pair of Burrowing Owls. They successfully raised a brood of owlets last summer. I had an amazing experience as the male was displaying as he puffed up like a football, all the time calling constantly. It was wonderful to watch and hear. The female seemed rather aloof to whole routine, but as you can see in the end all was well. This prairie dog was standing near by and seemed pleased that he had renters once again this summer!
